RSS ban move is politics of appeasement: MP CM
Shivpuri, MP, Sep 18 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said Karnataka's former chief minister Veerappa Moily's suggestion to impose a ban on Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) was an attempt appeasement politics.
Earlier also, then prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi had banned RSS but later they had to lift the ban, he told newspersons here.
''Such sort of appeasement resulted in the country's partition, continuing of Kashmir problem and delay in implementing capital punishment to terrorist Afzal'', Mr Chouhan said.
He suggested that the Centre should adopt a firm stand towards terrorism by making stringent laws. The state government had sent a draft legislation one-and-a-half years back, but the Centre was yet to clear it, he said, adding the state government had formed an anti-terrorism squad.
Alleging discrimination, Mr Chouhan said the Centre had curtailed 30 per cent diesel quota for the state and also cut quota in Power, Coal and Indira Awas Yojana.
Commenting on the Congress' suggestion for turning Jan Ashirwad Yatra into Kshamawani Yatra, Mr Chouhan said that Congress should seek apology from the public for the soaring inflation, bad quality wheat and for not battling terrorism effectively.
