Oracle to focus on mid-market segment with new products

Kochi, Sep 18 (UNI) Software major Oracle today said it will focus on the mid-market segment in India, which was 'growing strongly across several sectors,' by launching new products.

Addressing a press conference here, Oracle Regional Manager (Sales) Vinod Subramanian said several fast growing Indian mid-sized companies in several industries were already using Oracle software.

These included companies in real estate, construction,industrial manufacturing, financial services, consumer products,ITeS and BPO and logistics industry.

Of the 7,000 companies using the Oracle software, nearly 4,500 were in the mid-market segment, he added.

'Oracle Accelerate' and 'Oracle-EBZ Online Partnership' were among the US-based company's recent offerings for the mid-size market, he added.

Mr Sreeram Narayanan, General Manager (Marketing), Accel Frontline, an Oracle partner in India, said the company had witnessed 200 per cent year-on-year growth for the past two years for its Oracle business.

''The small and medium enterprises sector is picking up in India and this is a huge market for the Oracle products,'' he added.

Speaking of Kerala, he said IT/ITes, tourism, financial services, builders and manufacturing and agriculture were the key areas to be tapped by the company.

While declining to give India-specific figures, Mr Subaramanian said Oracle's total turnover last year was 24 billion US Dollar.

The company employed 24,000 professionals in India and had invested three billion USD in the country during the past five years, he added.
