Heavy rains in Uttarakhand within next 48-72 hrs
Dehra Dun, Sep 18 (UNI) Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur in Uttarakhand within the next 48-72 hours.
State Met Department Director Anand Sharma said the onset of heavy rains could trigger landslides and floods and with the mercury subsequently falling down, the hilly state could possibly witness some snowfall.
He said farmers had been alerted to move to higher altitude areas and make adequate provisions for their produce while locals and tourists were asked not to undertake trekking.
He attributed the rains to a northwestern disturbance.
The city has been shadowed by heavy clouds since this morning with several areas receiving rainfall.
