Court boycott in Pondy called off
Puducherry, Sep 18 (UNI) Calling off their boycott, Puducherry Bar Association members will attend the courts from today.
This followed an assurance from Chief Minister and Law Minister to look into their grievances.
The lawyers were boycotting courts for quite some time to press their demands, which included, an amendment to the Puducherry Judicial Service(cadre and recruitment rules) 2008 and preference to residents of Puducherry in the selection of civil judges.
Bar Association General Secretary Maruthupandian, in a release, thanked Chief Minister and the Law Minister for conceding their demands and directing the Law Secretary to forward the proposed amendment to Madras High Court.
