Bangalore, Sep 18: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Thursday, Sep 18 said the state government has ordered a Corps of Detectives (CoD) inquiry into the violent incidents at Mangalore and other parts of the state during the last few days.
Talking to newspersons after a Cabinet meeting here, he said it was decided to hold a CoD inquiry into the incidents. The probe was expected to be completed in two months. ''We have directed the police to provide 24 hour patrolling in the cities affected by communal tension. We have also directed them to provide security at the places of worship particularly belonging to the minorities. In addition, the police has been directed to make preventive arrests of suspected anti-social elements moving around sensitive places,'' he said.
I am shocked and pained by attacks on places of worship by miscreants in some parts of the state, he added.
Our government is taking all steps to ensure law and order and maintain peace and harmony. However, some anti-government forces are trying to fish in troubled waters,'' he said.
Mr Yeddyurappa appealed to political parties and the people to cooperate in restoring normalcy in the state.
