UPA govt implementing programmes successfully: Minister

Koyyali,Andhra Pradesh, Sep 17(UNI) Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Daggubati Purandeswari has said the UPA government at the Centre was successfully implementing various programmes for the development of education and Women and Child welfare.

Speaking at the five-day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign programme here yesterday , she said the Centre was also implementing ' the Sarva Sikshaa Abhiyan'(SSA) through which nearly 13 crore children in the country were imparted education annually.

The Centre had also introduced mid-day meal schemes to reduce drop-out rates of poor children, Mrs Purandeswari said.

Referring to Right to Information (RTA), she said various surveys revealed that corruption in government departments has decreased substantially following its implementation.

The minister asked the people to participate in the ongoing Bharat Nirman programme to attain self-sufficiency in all fields and distributed cheques to the tune of Rs 2.88 crore to women belonging to Scheduled Castes.
