Mild quake shakes Koyna region of Maharashtra

Satara, (Maharashtra) Sep 17: On Wednesday, Sep 17 a tremor of 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale rattled the Koyna region of Maharashtra. There are no reports of any injury or damage so far. The tremor was registered at around 0321 hrs(IST). Its epicentre was the Koyna dam at 17.9 N latitude and 73.9 E longitude, Koyna Dam executive engineer U V Sidhamal told the sources.

Besides the Koyna region, the impact was felt in the surrounding areas such as Karad, Satara and Konkan.
