Tatas anxious to come back to Singur : Bhattacharjee

Kolkata, Sep 17 (UNI) Calling upon Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee to 'see reasons' and 'act to her conscience', Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said the Tatas were 'anxiously' waiting for the situation to normalise at Singur and come back there with the Nano project.

'' I have requested the Tatas to come back...they are anxiously waiting to come back.... When they feel that the situation is normal, they will come back, '' he told a press conference at the state Secretariat.

The Chief Minister said he had been in constant touch with the Tatas and had talks with Group Chairman Ratan Tata even yesterday.

Regretting that the situation in Singur was still not congenial for the Tatas to resume work, the Chief Minister said the Government had offered the best possible rehabilitation package to the land losers and the Trinamool leader should accept it.

She should also give up her demand for 300 acre from within the project area and accept the fact that not more than 70 acre of land was possible to be given considering the project's integrated nature, he added.

'' She is failing to understand the integrated character of the small car project which is not possible to be set up if the mother plant is separated from the ancillary units. I would say, try to see reasons and act to your conscience and allow us to set up the plant, '' he said.
