Rupee opens high by 53 paise at 46.35/USD
Mumbai, Sep 17: On Wednesday, Sep 17, Rupee opened firm at 46.35, with a massive gain of 53 paise, from its last close of 46.88 on sustained selling of dollar by local nationalised banks. Later, it fluctuated in a narrrow range between 46.27 and 46.36 during the mid-morning sesssion.
Crude oil was quoted low at USD 93 a barrel and the weakness in Indian bourses now also helped to boost in the domestic currency, a leading dealer said. The partially-convertible rupee rose sharply, after posting its biggest single-day fall on Tuesday, Sep 17, supported by the RBI's move to make rates on deposits by non-residents more attractive.
