Periyar remembered in Puducherry

Puducherry, Sep 17: Floral tributes were paid to rationalist leader E V Ramswamy, affectionately called ''Periyar'' on his 130th birth anniversary here today.

Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, his cabinet collegues, legislators and senior officials of the administration garlanded the statue on behalf of the government.

Former Chief Minister and ex speaker M D R Ramachandran and chairperson of Puducherry municipality Dr Sreedevi, besides leaders and office-bearers of various political parties garlanded the statue on the occasion.
