Manipur: Ban by militants causing trouble
Imphal, Sep 17: People in Heirok and Thoubal districts are facing problems due to ban imposed by United National Liberation Front (UNLF), Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) from moving out of the constituency.
A youth of Heirok who runs a pharmacy at Imphal was shot at on September 15 by suspected militants.
The people of Heirok had decided to form a force to fight with the militants following which they imposed ban on their movement out of constituency.
Meanwhile, a public meeting held yesterday at Heirok appealing militants to lift the ban.
Even government employees of Heirok were reluctant to move out of the constituency.
People under the banner of a joint action committee also appealed the government to protect them.
