Mortal remains of army jawan consigned to flames
Ambala, Sep 17 (UNI) The mortal remains of army jawan Swaranjit Singh (35), who was killed while fighting with terrorists two days ago in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, were consigned to flames with full military honours at Panjokhra village, near here, today.
The body was brought by a military contingent of 30 jawans, headed by Capt Jit Singh, and kept in military hospital last night.
Today, the body was taken to his native place Panjokhra where cremation was held.
SDM M K Ahuja and other district officials attended the cremation.
Capt Jit Singh said that Swaranjit died after he slipped down during operation against the militants. Recruited to the Army in 1992, he was attached to 10 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.
