Men faces 4-year jail for assaulting dalit

Gonda, Sep 17 (UNI) A local court handed down four-year imprisonment to four men, accused of forcibly pressing a Dalit into work and manhandling him.

Parman of the Wazirganj area here had lodged a named FIR against muscleman Mahatam Singh, Sharda Baksha Singh, Narendra Singh and Anil Kumar Singh for assaulting and forcing him to work for them at free of cost.

He had also alleged that they had broke of his limb and issued life threats.

Special judge SC/ST Act S B Sharma yesterday found the accused guilty of the crime and pronounced four years incarceration, besides slapping a penalty of Rs 2,000 each.
