UP: Man held for issuing blast threat
Kanpur, Sep 17: Police today arrested a man, who threatened to blow up Kanpur central railway station late last night.
Avnish Dixit, a resident of Roora area in Kanpur dehat, called the city police control room and threatned to blow the Kanpur central railway station by planting serial bombs, Superintendent of Police (East) Manoj Sonkar said.
Soon after the call, the government railway police, railway protection force along with district police swung in to action and tight security arrangements were made at the railway station.
Meanwhile, a team of Kotwali police was sent to Roora, who equired the caller's address through his mobile number and brought Avnish to the industrial city today.
However, Avanish's family told the police that he was mentally ill and was undergoing treatment for the same.
Police is investigating the case.
