Mah Governor to release special cover on Ramanujam tomorrow
Mumbai, Sep 17 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Jamir will release tomorrow a special cover brought out by the postal department in memory of late founder president of the Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha, T V Ramanujam, on the occasion of its Centenary celebrations here.
Prof Ramanujam started his career as a professor of Indian History and Economics. In 1945, he joined the Free Press Journal in Mumbai as the editor of Economic supplement. Subsequently, he served as editor of 'Bharat' launched by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, according to an official release here today.
Mr Ramanujam was awarded 'Padmashree' by the government in 1968.
He was appointed as the Sheriff of Mumbai in 1974.
President of Sabha V Shankar, Essar Group Chairman Shashi Ruia, Chief Post Master General of Maharashtra M S Bali and other high profile dignitaries will remain present on the occasion, the release added.
