Elephants menace in South Kodagu

Madikeri, Sep 17 (UNI) Fed up with the menace of elephants, planters and villagers of South Kodagu have decided to organise a protest before the District Forest Office at Virajpet for not taking effective steps to curb it.

Planters and villagers told newspersons yesterday that a herd of elephants was destroying crops and property and the Forest Department was turning a 'deaf ear' to their repeated complaints.

The protest would be held in a couple of days demanding immediate action, they said.
