Tauqir is innocent: Zubeda Qureshi

Mumbai, Sep 17: Zubeda Qureshi, mother of prime suspect in the Delhi blasts case Abdul Subhan alias Tauqir Qureshi, on Wednesday, Sep 17 said though her family was unaware of Tauqir's whereabouts for the past two years, she was confident about his innocence in the case. Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday, Sep 17 along with her lawyer Mobil Solkar, she said her son was innocent and ''If he was found to be guilty in engineering the blasts or any other anti-social activists, he should be punished in front of us.'' Appealing to Tauqir to come out and prove his innocence, she said her family had a clean image and her son cannot be a part of such activities.

Elaborating, Mr Solkar said Tauqir was separated from the family in the year 2001. He got married in 1999 and now is a father of three children. He has not even contacted his wife since 2006, who is residing at present at Mira Road in neighbouring Thane district.

After completing his HSS exam, he did a diploma in computer science and then got a job in Wipro company, Mr Solkar added.

Meanwhile, Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) is suspecting him to be a mastermind in the serial blasts, that rocked New Delhi on Saturday, Sep 13.

Tauqir, who is at large, is also suspected of having send the e-mail to the media just before the blast.
