Cabinet to decide tomorrow on setting up inquiry on violence
Mangalore, Sep 17 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister V S Acharya today said the cabinet meeting tomorrow would decide on the inquiry into the attack incidents on places of workship and the following incidents of aggression in Daxina Kannada district during the last three days.
Addressing presspersons here, he said the inquiry by Corps of Detective (CoD) headed by a senior police official or by the Principal Secretary would be one of the options to go into details of the incidents and alleged police atrocities.
Meanwhile, there was a report of attack on a place of worship in Ujire near Belthangay in the district in the wee hours today where some miscreants burnt some religious books.
Another incident of attack by miscreants was reported from Sangameshwar police limit in Chikmagalur where furnitures were damaged in the wee hours today.
Dr Acharya said he was camping in the city since Monday last to see that normalcy was restored in the district and would leave for Bangalore tomorrow to attend the cabinet meeting.
He said several affected minority women met him in the morning to brief him about the alleged atrocities of the police on them and children by caning them and entering inside the places of worship.
The National Commission for Women Chairperson Ms Girija Vyas also met him today and urged him to conduct an inquiry into the alleged police atrocities.
All these issues would be taken into consideration during the inquiry, he said.
