Washington, Sep 17 (UNI) A bipartisan group of Congressmen last night circulated a "Dear Colleague letter" urging fellow lawmakers to support the US-India civilian nuclear which awaits Congressional approval before becoming a law of the land.

Included in the letter was a copy of the September 12, 2008 Washington Post editorial entitled "Yes for an Answer" outlining support for this agreement.

With the letter, they drew attention to the September 12, 2008 Washington Post editorial written in support of the US-India Civilian Nuclear Agreement.

"As past and present co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, we are asking you to support this agreement, which provides for peaceful nuclear cooperation between the two democracies. Passage of this measure in an expedient manner will be beneficial to both of our countries," the letter said.

It said, "This historic agreement for our two nations has won approval from the International Atomic Energy Agency and the 45-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group. It would enhance US-India economic relations; and assist the world's largest democracy to successfully meet growing energy needs." "Congress must act quickly to ensure passage on this Agreement before recessing," the bipartisan document said.

Signatories to the letter include: Congressman (SC-02) along Congressmen Frank Pallone, Joseph Crowley and Gary Ackerman (all Democrats) and Ed Royce and Joe Wilson (both Republicans).
