6 gram panachayats upgraded
Bilaspur, Sep 17 (UNI) Six Gram Panchayats in this district have been upgraded to Town Panchayats, official sources said today.
District Collector Subodh Singh said Gram Panchayats of Patharia, Tifra, Sirgitti and Malhar have been changed into Nagar Panchayats. The Sarpanchs of these Gram Panchayats would act as President until fresh elections for Town Panchayats.
A preliminary notification has been issued to provide Town Panchayat status to Sargaon and Sakri Gram Panchayats.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has announced upgradation of these panchayats.
