Will resign when Sonia ji asks to leave: Patil
New Delhi, Sep 16: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Tuesday, Sep 16 said that he will resign only when the Congress President Sonia Gandhi asks him to leave. Patil has been facing critisims from sections of Congress and UPA allies stating that he is ineffective as a Home Minister.
Patil said that he was in the government only because his party leadership wanted him. Commenting on the criticism over his changing clothes thrice while appearing before the media on Saturday, Sep 13 after the Delhi blasts, he said "you criticise his policies, you don't criticise his clothes".
"I am not in much demand. I am here just because of them (leadership). I have no group either. It's only that the leadership supports me that I continue to stay here," Patil said.
