States ask Finance panel to increase their share in central taxes
New Delhi, Sep 16 (UNI) States today asked the Finance Commission to increase their share in the divisible pool of the central taxes of 50 per cent from the current 30.5 per cent.
Besides, states should be given the power to concurrently tax all taxable services, Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers on VAT Chariman Asim Dasgupta told reporters here.
These demands were put forward by the VAT panel in its presentation to the 13th Finance Commission today.
Briefing about the presentation, Mr Dasgupta said all central surchargs and cess should also be included in the divisible pool.
Besides, additional devolution may be considered for the northeastern states and special category states, he added.
The Commission, headed by Mr Vijay Kelkar, looks into Centre-State financial relations.
