Rupee down by seven paise at 46.12 against USD

Mumbai, Sep 16: The rupee on Tuesday, Sep 16 fell by seven paise at 46.12 against US Dollar, from the previous day's close of 46.05, on sustained heavy selling of dollar by local operators.

A forex dealer said ''Rupee fell by one per cent to its lowest in this morning session on capital outflow concerns following an upheaval on Wall Street, in more than two years.'' However, dealers said state banks were selling dollars to halt the slide.

Later, the domestic currency was trading between 46.12 and 46.56 per dollar, they added.
