Govt official convicted in bribery case

Hyderabad, Sep 16 (UNI) Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases today sentenced a former Deputy Executive Engineer in the R and B headquarters Sub-Division in Goshamahal to one-year rigorous imprisonment for accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 from his subordinate for doing an official favour.

The Judge also imposed a fine of Rs 750 each for the offences under Section seven and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, in default to undergo three-month simple imprisonment.

Both the sentences would run concurrently.

Meanwhile, ACB sleuths caught red-handed Medical Officer in-charge of the Kurnool Municipal Corporation Allopathic Dispensary B Narasanna while accepting Rs 2,000 as bribe from the complainant for issuing an age certificate.

The accused would be produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in the city.
