Govt asks OMCs to ensure adequate supply of LPG

New Delhi, Sept 16 (UNI) The government today directed the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to ensure adequate supply of petroleum products and LPG to the consumers in the coming months.

Reviewing the supply situation of petroleum products in the country in the wake of ensuing festival and winter season, Petroleum Secretary R S Pandey said, ''The OMCs should maintain adequate stocks of LPG in the coming months...it is the period when the demand for petroleum products rises substantially.'' The OMCs also assured to remove any difficulties being faced by the existing customers in getting their refill supplies.

It was decided that the Grievances Redressal System of OMCs would be made more effective and a toll free number for each OMC would be launched on October 2, 2008. Any customer can approach this toll free number across the country to lodge his complaints. The OMCs will also launch an Awareness Campaign about the Public Grievances Redressal Mechanism for the people to make full use of the facility.

IOC Chairman Sarthak Behuria, Additional Secretary MoP and NG S Sundareshan, Marketing Directors(OMCs) and other senior officers of the Ministry and OMCs were present in the meeting.
