Court handsdown 20 yrs RI for smuggling opium
Jaunpur, Sep 16 (UNI) A district court today handdown rigorous imprisonment of 20 years to two men and a penalty of Rs two lakh each for smuggling opium.
On December 18, 2007, police intercepted a jeep in Gaurababadshahpur area here and seized about 200 kg and 250 gms of opium from Idrish and Madhusudan Pandey.
Duo belonged to Panchpatara village in Bihar.
A fast track court (III) judge Amarjeet Tripathi found the accused guilty and handed down 20-year imprisonment them, besides slapping penalty of Rs two lakh each.
