Vietnam vouches for rice, fish in NE India

Guwahati, Sep 15: Fish, rice and Buddhist tourism are high on the agenda of Vietnam for doing business with North East India. Talking to newspersons on the margins of the ongoing North East Business summit on Monday, Sep 15 Ambassador Vu Quag Diem said they were keen on rice processing as well as in pisci culture.

''We are a three-crop-a-year nation and we find single crop in NE India. Both countries can benefit as we have similar land and customs,'' he said adding that he would look for local partners and would also like to act as a facilitator for business partners.

Another area of interest is the Buddhist tourism.

''Arunachal Pradesh has a lot of Buddhist relics and the monastery of Tawang is quite important for Buddhists. Our tourists may like to visit this part of the country which is not only beautiful but there are also lots of cultural similarities,'' he said.

The Ambassador is on the lookout for local partners who could explore these opportunities and do business.

''I want businessmen of the North East India to do business with the ASEAN countries,'' he said.
