Lokayukta files chargesheet against a senior KAS officer

Davangere, Sep 15(UNI) Karnataka Lokayukta today filed charge sheet against a senior KAS officer arrested under Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.

Lokayukta police submitted charge sheet before the District and Sessions Court here against B H Siddappa a 1984 KAS batch officer who is now working as Bidar Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary.

In a raid conducted on November 15-2005 on his house here and office at Haveri when he was serving as Assistant Commissioner, valuable documents and cash and jewels together worth Rs 95.74 lakhs, were seized. His total income from known source would have been Rs 15.97 lakhs only. He had made 599 per cent excess of income against his known sources of income of Rs 15.97 lakhs.

Siddappa had served as Tasildar and as Assistant Commissioner and also as Private Secretary to former Minister for Excise.

Last week Lokayukta arrested him and later he was released on bail.

All the properties seized has been recommended to the government for attachment, source added.
