Global meet on 'semantic e-business' from Sep 17

Kochi, Sep 15 (UNI) A three-day international conference on 'Semantic E-business and Enterprise Computing: From Theory to Applications' (SEEC 2008) will be held here from September 17.

Announcing this at a press conference here today, conference co-chair Fr Biju John said the 'semantic web' was an evolving extension of the world wide web in which the semantics of information and services on the web are defined. This makes it possible for the web to understand and satisfy the requests of people and machines to use the web content.

Dr Souheil Kaddaj, Assistant Professor, Kingston University, London, said London-based Magnificata Productions and Technology, a media production specialising in technology design, semantic web and multimedia, was the main organiser of the event. Kingston University and Middlesex University were the co-organisers.

He said the conference was being organised to create awareness about the new technology to institutions in Kerala.

Fr Biju John said the conference would also promote higher education in Kerala, especially for those belonging to economically backward sections.
