53 arrested in connection with yesterday's attack on churches

Bangalore, Sep 15 (UNI) Police have arrested 53 persons in connection with yesterday's attack on Churches and violence in South Kanara, Udupi and Chikamagalur, Karnataka Director General and Inspector General of Police Sree Kumar said today.

In a release here, he said that patrolling has been intensified and additional forces have been deployed in all the affected areas.

He said that the District Superintendents of Police and Deputy Commissioners of Districts are being held accountable for maintaining law and order. They have been advised to take the help of District Level Peace Committees for sorting out various outstanding issues. Every effort is being made to ensure protection to the minorities.
