Three rape-accused sentenced to five years RI

Shillong, Sep 14 (UNI) A fast track court at Tura under Garo Hills district of Meghalaya has sentenced three rape-accused to five years rigorous imprisonment.

Justice E N Marak sentenced Bimal Das and Babu Sangma to five years rigorous imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs five thousand on each of the convicts.

According to the charges, the convicts had raped two minor girls in separate incidents in 1999.

Another rape-accused was also awarded five years RI by the fast track court and asked to pay a fine of Rs 20,000.
