Prohibitory orders extended in Gonda district

Gonda, Sep 14 (UNI) For better security in the coming festive season, the district administration today extended the prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC till October 31.

Earlier on September 9, the administration had clamped prohibitory orders for a couple of days after the violence in Nawabganj market, however, keeping in view the approaching festivals, its implementation has been extended, official sources said.

During the prohibitory orders, no procession or assemblies could be held without prior permission.

On September 9, tension had gripped this district when Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal activists had forced some shopkeepers to close their shops, while protesting the attack upon Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Yogi Adityanath.

Mr Adityanath's cavalcade was attacked in Azamgarh district on September 7. One youth had also died in this incident.
