Panun Kashmir observes 'Balidan Divas' in Jammu

Jammu, Sep 14 (UNI) Panun Kashmir, the Kashmiri Pandit organisation, today observed 'Balidan divas' here to pay homage to those who fell to the militants' bullets in the valley and other parts of the state.

The Pandit community at large assembled here at a function organised at Press Club Jammu and offered floral tributes to the members who fell victim to the fundamentalism and communal clashes in Valley.

Special tributes were paid to Pandit Tikka Lal Taploo, who was the first victim of sectarian war in the valley in 1989.

Recalling the incident, the community members said it was September 14, 1989, when Pandit Taploo was martyred in the streets of Srinagar and signalled the beginning of genocide and the current exodus.

Many leaders of various Kashmiri Pandit organisations, including Dr Agnishekhar, Daya Kishen Koul, Sanjay Dattuttrya and others, paid rich tributes to the martyrs of recent Jammu agitation.

Massive rallies were also taken out by the members of the displaced community in Udhampur, Nagrota, Mishriwalla, Purkhpo and Muthi areas of Jammu region.
