No truck with Congress, BJP in Pondy: CPI leader

Puducherry, Sep 14 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) in Puducherry will not have any truck either with the Congress or the BJP.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the State Committee meeting of the party yesterday, CPI State Secretary and MLA Na Ra Kalainathan said in a statement here today.

He said the CPI National Council had taken a political stand not to have any truck with the Congress, BJP or with any other party having understanding with the Congress and the BJP and the same would be followed in the Union Territory also.

The CPI would strive for the formation of an alternative front which would be capable of contesting agaist the Congress and the BJP and defeat them, he added.

He said the CPI was not supporting the new Congress government here, which was in office with the support of the DMK and PMK.

People welfare schemes were pending in the Union Territory and the public were dissatsified with the Congress government here, he said, adding a change of guard would do no good to the people.

Mr Kalainathan said the CPI would organise a series of agitations against the government along with the like-minded parties.
