K'taka CM instructs police to maintain high alert

Bangalore, Sep 14: Karnataka Chief Minister Y S Yeddyurappa today instructed the state police to maintain strict vigilance and remain on high alert to thwart any subversive activities by anti-national elements.

Presiding over an emergency review meeting here on law and order situation following serial bomb blasts in New Delhi, he instructed the police and district administration to ensure high alert.

Home Minister Dr V S Acharya, Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao and DGP Sree Kumar also attended the meeting.

He also condemned the blasts in which over 21 people were killed and another 100 injured.

Describing the blasts as a cowardly act of anti-national elements, he said terrorists were trying to weaken the country.

Mr Yeddyurappa also strongly called for enactment of a special central legislation on the lines of the repealed POTA to deal with sternly against the terrorist organisations and their abators.
