J K Police asks cyber cafe owners to remian vigilant
Jammu, Sep 14 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police today sounded alert in the winter capital and directed the cyber cafe owners to remain vigilant and also keep check on suspicious movements, following yesterday's serial blasts in the national capital.
The state police would be keeping surveillance around various cyber cafe points of the city and its peripheries while the doubtful activities would also be under the scanner of the security agencies, sources said.
The cyber cafe owners have been asked by the police to be watchful after an Islamic militant group claimed responsibility for the bombings in an e-mail sent to several news organisations.
''We have appealed to the people to be more attentive and in case they notice any suspicious movement around their localities, inform the police,'' Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jammu Manohar Singh told UNI asserting that people are being made aware regarding dubious activities.
Mr Singh said besides educating the masses, the cyber cafe owners have also been directed to keep surveillance on suspicious elements.
''The cyber cafe owners have been asked to maintain the records of customers visiting the internet points and nobody should be allowed for internet services without identity cards,'' the SSP asserted.
Meanwhile, Mr Singh added that special instructions have been issued to the concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) to ensure maintenance of the registers by the owners of cyber cafes and also to keep watch around internet points.
Over 200 cyber cafe points are operating in the winter capital of the state with maximum of them not registered and maintaining no records.
