Devleopment plan for two Haryana towns notified

Chandigarh, Sep 14 (UNI) The Draft Development Plan for the controlled areas around Yamunanagar and Jagadhri towns has been notified to ensure planned development of these two places.

While stating this here today, a spokesman for the Town and Country Planning Department said the draft plan had been prepared keeping in view the development of industries and tourism in these two twin towns where the projected population in 2021 is expected to be around 11.50 lakh.

He said to realise the plan, as much as 7039 hectare of land would be required for various purposes. The draft development plan had already been published and as such the people were advised not to carve out any colony or raise any illegal construction in these controlled areas without seeking prior permission of the Director, Town and Country Planning Department, he added.

Giving details of the plan, the spokesman said 3343 hectare of land had been earmarked for residential purposes, which had been divided into 32 sectors. Around 323 hectares of land had been reserved for commercial use.

Similarly, 1360 hectares of land had been reserved for industrial use, which had been divided into eight sectors, he said, adding that an Industrial Model Township would be set up over 283 hectares of land along the Jagadhri-Poanta Sahib national highway.

An industrial estate over an area of 54 hectares had already been developed at village Manakpur along this highway by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).

He said 37 hectare of land had already been acquired for the development of transport nagar in Jagadhri and land for the development of transport nagar in Yamunanagar was also proposed to be acquired. Two sectors along the Western Yamuna canal had been reserved for entertainment purposes to give a boost to tourism in these twin towns.
