Vellore, Sep 13 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK) founder-leader S Ramadoss today rejected Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi's statement that the state was ranked third in the higher education at national level.
Talking to newspersons here after the 14th PMK District Conference on enforcement of Prohibition, Dr Ramadoss said the committee appointed by the Human Resources Development Ministry at Centre and headed by the former Vice Chancellor Thyagarajan had submitted a report that of the 31 districts in the state, the standard of education was well below the national average in 24 districts.
The PMK supremo wanted the government to publish the number of engineering, medical, arts and nurse colleges opened by them in the last two years.

The government should also declare enforcement of prohibition from October two, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi birthday, he added.
