Malay rights chief says Indian diplomats visits to detention camps helpful

Kuala Lumpur, Sept.13 : The deputing of Tamil speaking officers at the Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has helped ease problems faced by Indian and Malay Indian nationals detained at camps throughout the country, claimed Human Rights Commissioner N. Sivasubramaniam.

Tamil Nesan quoted him as saying that the Indian High Commission has agreed to expedite the issuance of the exit pass to allow Indian nationals, who had the necessary travel documents and visa to return to their homes.

He said currently Tamil speaking officers were visiting detention camps to personally meet detainees to identify their problems.
