General alert in TN following Delhi serial blasts
Chennai, Sept 13 (UNI) The Union government tonight sounded a general alert across the country in the wake of serial blasts in Delhi that claimed about 15 lives.
Talking to UNI, police sources confirmed receipt of the general alert from the national capital.
''It's a regular alert and message from New Delhi whenever there are incidents of violence and terror attacks. We have taken all precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident'', the sources added.
Police have geared up their security machinery across the state following the blasts.
'Metal detectors have been installed in all vantage points in the city and surveillance mounted in areas where public congregate in large numbers. Night patrolling has been intensified and all vehicles entering the state are subjected to thorough checks'', the sources said.
Railway stations, airports, bus depots, shopping malls, theatres, amusement parks have come under the security scanner.
Metal detectors were installed in places of worship, temples and in railway stations to screen the people.
''Heightened security measures have been put in place. There was no cause for any alarm and people can continue their normal life'', the sources said and added that the guidelines issued by the Centre on security was strictly followed.
''Apart from this the security all over the state had been beefed up'', the sources said.
