BSNL employees oppose disinvestment
Mysore, Sep 13 (UNI) The 18th Karnataka circle conference of BSNL executives today strongly opposed the Central government's proposal of disinvesting the company.
The conference, in its resolutions passed here, condemned the proposals by the Centre to disinvest the centuries-old Rs 4,000 crore worth BSNL and sell it to the private companies.
It also opposed the proposed merger of Indian Telephone Industry (ITI), which was suffering a loss to the extent of Rs 2,200 crore with BSNL.
The BSNL employees favoured the revival of ITI for the benefit of its employees and the public at large with ever growing competition from the electronic equipments producing private companies.
In another resolution, they urged the Centre to appoint permanent officers for BSNL to streamline the administration to cope with the ever growing demand.
