Western suburbs of IT Capital experience tremors

Bangalore, Sep 12 (UNI) The people preparing to begin their daily chores in the Western parts of the IT Capital were shaken after hearing a huge sound of explosion that followed by tremor that lasted about three seconds this morning.

Residents of J P Nagar, HSR Layout, BTM Layout, Kengeri and Nagarababi, forming the Western suburbs of the city, reported of hearing a deafening sound and they rushed out of their homes. The earth shook for a very brief while as the tremor lasted between two to three seconds they said at around nine AM.

However no major damage was reported from any parts of the affected area.

Officials in the meteorological department, confirming the occurring, however said it would take some more time to assess the nature of the incident.

A couple of houses in the modest Raju Layout in Kengeri limits on the outskirts of the city developed vertical cracks in the wall while window panes shook in all these places, residents said.

Incidentally the residents of these areas said there had been no quarry works taking place in the Western parts of the city. The sound of explosion was felt by the people residing in these areas spanning about 25 kms.
