Union Enviornment Ministry officials visit Mithi river
Mumbai, Sep 12 (UNI) Additional Director in Union Ministry of Environment and Forests A Senthilvelu today visited the Mithi river at Dharavi in suburban Bandra and reviewed the widening, desilting and deepening works.
Dr Senthilvelu was accompanied by Dr Nailin Bhat, Advisor, Union Ministry of Environment and Forests, and Milind Mhaiskar, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner of Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Development Authority. (MMRDA).
He expressed satisfaction on the progress of the works of the Mithi River. Dr Senthilvelu later visited the Bandra-Worli Sea Link project, undertaken by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), a MMRDA release said here.
It may be recalled that in July 1995, the Mithi river was inundated with flood waters due to heavy downpour, displacing thousands of people living on its banks.
