TDP had not done anything to develop Chittoor: Chief whip

Hyderabad, Sept 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today alleged that the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had not done anything to develop Chittoor District though he belonged to that district, during the nine-year-rule of TDP.

Addressing a press conference here along with the State housing Minister B.Satyanarayana, Government Chief Whip N Kiran Kumar Reddy said large number of women members of Self Help Groups(SHGs) had attended the AICC President Sonia Gandhi's meeting at Tirupati yesterday as they appreciated the welfare schemes initiated by Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

He said the state government had provided loans worth Rs.11,000 crore for SHGs as against only Rs 800 crore provided by the previous TDP regime.

He said Sonia Gandhi distributed loans worth Rs 150 crore to the SHGs yesterday and paid insurance premium to the tune of Rs 50 crore to "Janasri Bheema" Scheme, benefitting 42 lakh families in the state.

He said she paid the premium of "Aam Aadmi Yojana" benefitting 32 lakh families. Students of ninth to 12th classes from poor families would be provided Rs 100 as scholarship every month under this schdeme.
