SC dismisses Union Govt's petition in Radio Today bid
New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) The Supreme Court has dismissed as infructuous the petition of the Union Government challenging the Delhi High Court order permitting Radio Today to make a second bid for broadcasting rights in Delhi and NCR region.
A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhan yesterday also dismissed the cross appeal of Radio Today as infructuous.
Radio Today had challenged the Union Government's order rejecting their bid in the High Court.
The High Court upheld the decision of the Centre but permitted Radio Today to make second attempt for getting the broadcasting rights for the year 2007-08.
The apex court dismissed both the appeals on the ground that the period of one year for which the broadcasting rights was to be given has already expired and therefore both the appeals -- the one filed by the Centre and the other by Radio Today, have become infructuous.
