JNTU VC stresses on information based medicine
Kakinada, Sep 12 (UNI) Vice Chancellor Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Allam Apparao today called upon pathologists and microbiologists to go for Information based medicine (IBM).
Participating as the Chief Guest at the pre-conference CME, organised as a part of the AP chapter of the Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists here, he said IBM was made easy with Bioinformatics, which applied algorithms to medical datasets that typically consist of large numbers of DNA,RNA or protein sequences.
Stating that errors in diagnosing and treatment were not uncommon, he attributed many deaths to the medical errors worldwide and in United States alone one in every 25 patients die of medical accidents.
President of the IAPM, Andhra Pradesh chapter, Dr PVS Ramalakshmi, who presided over the conference, said the CME would be of great help in updating the knowledge and skills of the participants and would give scope for better interaction among them.
Dr R Sreeramulu Naidu, Organising Secretary of IAPM, said over 500 delegates were taking part in the three-day state conference.
