India Mobile Congress 2008 to begin in Chennai tomorrow
New Delhi, Sept 12 (UNI) A two-day conference focusing on the telecom market potential in rural India will be held in Chennai called ''India Mobile Congress 2008'' on September 13-14.
The conference will be inaugurated by IT and Communications Minister A Raja.
The conference will discusss issues pertaining to enhancing growth in rural India through ICT, dual market strategy, development of low cost devices for rural India, wireless technology, IT operations in telecom and the opportunities and challenges of IT in the sector, a statement said here.
The conference is supported by industry associations like the AUSPI, TEMA, Wi-Fi Alliance, and CMAI.
With over 71 per cent of the country's population living in rural India, the rural mobile market is expected to grow at a rate of 47 per cent till 2010 and the capital investment for rural telecom infrastructure for 2008-09 is estimated at 9.5 billion dollars.
