Pondy: APPTMA advances its agitation

Puducherry, Sep 12: The All Puducherry Plastic Traders and Manufacturers Association (APPTMA) has deferred its proposed agitation on Monday, Sep 15 following an assurance from Chief Minister V Vaithilingam that their grievences would be looked into.

Talking to newspersons, association President S Rajaganapathy said that several industrial units in the estates were closed down due to the frequent power-cuts resulting in loss of large number of workers. If the situation continued, many more industries would be forced to close business. Hence, to draw the attention of the government, the association announced a procession and demonstration on Monday, Sep 15.

The Chief Minister invited them for a talk and assured them that steps would be taken to withdraw the power-cut in a month and hence, the proposed agitation was deferred temporarily.The association also urged the Chief Minister to ensure that the power supply to the industries were cut only from 1800 hours to 2100 hours.
