AP: Road accident claims 13, leaves 30 injured

Kadapa, Sep 12: At least 13 people, including 10 women and two girl infants were killed and 30 others injured, when a private tourist bus fell in a valley on Chitvel-Rapur ghat road near Nellore and Kadapa district borders late on Thursday, Sep 11 night.

The bus with about 70 members of a family was returning to Railway Kodur in Kadapa District from Penchalakona in Nellore after attending a religious function, when the accident occurred, police today said.

Police said 12 bodies were retrieved from the valley, while a woman succumbed in the hospital.

All the injured were admitted to Chitvel, Rajampet and Kodur hospitals.

Efforts were on to retrieve the bus from the valley.

Rash driving by the driver in an inebriated condition was the reason behind the accident. Efforts were on to trace him, police added.
