Uphaar tragedy: Ansal brothers surrender
New Delhi, Sep 11: The Ansal Brothers, the main convicted in Uphaar fire tragedy surrendered on Thursday, Sep 11 a day-after Supreme Court cancelled their bail application. Both Sushil and Gopal Ansal have been sent to 14 days judicial custody. Ansal brothers surrendered before Additional Sessions Judge I K Kochhar at the Patiala House district courts.
Two managers of the Uphaar theatre, Ajit Chowdhary and Nirmal Chopra, also surrendered before the court. All the four were on Wednesday, Sep 10 directed by the apex Court to surrender before the trial court by 4 pm on Thursday, Sep 11. An apex court bench comprising Justices B N Agrawal and G S Singhvi had ordered their arrest after cancelling their bail.
